Weekly Newsletter from Trout Payment Systems    Join Trout at Houston International Festival  May 3-4, 2014, Downtown Houston Trout will be volunteering at this festival on Saturday, and if you are looking to volunteer as well, you have until April 30th to register.  Otherwise, I encourage you to attend and you can purchase tickets online.   Last Week: Houston Premium Outlets The multi chamber event was a great success as members of Cy Fair/Houston NW/Tomball Chambers came together for networking at the local outlet mall. When the Grand Parkway finally spans from 290 to the 59, the mall will benefit greatly from accessibility to more customers. I look forward to seeing how the multi chamber events after 2015 look. Next Week: Houston Art Car Parade, Saturday May 10th Where else will you see a car shaped like a giant metallic chicken? This is one of my favorite festivities in Houston. I will be volunteering in the Saturday parade, but there are other festivities that precede the parade, including a preview of cars at Discovery Green on Thursday night.    Wanted: Bar and Nightclub Referrals  Trout is looking for referrals to owners and general managers of bars and night clubs. This Week: Saturday at Vintage Park Although Trout will be at Int'l Fest on Saturday, I know that many will not. However, for those in the NW side I encourage you to attend  the open house for Young Leaders (9-11 am) which provides day care, pre school, and enrichment programs for kids, and the ribbon cutting for B. de Vine (12-1), both of which are in Vintage Park. A Star Wars themed art show that has grown exponentially since that first humble homage to Lucas' opus. Now we are back for the 3rd time this year to feed the Star Wars addiction that will surely quench everyone's thirst!" It's hard not to be interested in things extraterrestrial.  NASA will be fielding questions Monday night at about 11:45 pm and the lunar eclipse, aka 'Blood Moon' should begin to be visible around 1:00 am Tuesday, with a peak period beginning around 2 am. In other news important news, Trout Payment Systems will be the spotlight speaker at the Jersey Village Professional Networking Group, a lunch group I co-founded that meets Wednesdays 11:30-1:00 at On The Rox Bar and Grill 9507 Jones road. Stop in and say hello!   Last Week: KUHF Pledge Drive  Last week Trout and other members of the Houston West Chamber of Commerce helped phone bank for Houston's NPR. The primary beneficiary of last Monday's efforts was Houston's Meals on Wheels.  Trout was lucky enough to field the call of one generous donor who contributed $5,000 to the effort. 290 Construction Update: Notes From This Morning's TXDOT Meeting

As a business owner in NW Houston that services businesses along the 290 corridor, I try to stay up to date with the ongoing construction. Today's TXDOT meeting was at the Bridgeland Activity Center, and unfortunately I was running late but I did catch some of the highlights and have provided the PDF the gave us from the meeting.

• Businesses can put up signs to direct customers to the driveway so that people can find their shop amid the construction
• Barker Cypress bridge will be demolished on June 7th and 8th 
• The Barker Cypress outbound exit will be moved closer to Telge  in order to alleviate traffic back up during rush hour
• The Volunteer Fire Department should contact Transtar if there are major accidents, especially which involve a fatality, which will help coordinate traffic in response

Maybe Bubba can get his second jacket, Lefty his fourth, or maybe Rory McIlroy, having shot a 65 on Sunday at the Houston open, will be the lucky one. In any event for you golf enthusiasts, there is a new Top Golf opening it's doors tomorrow at 9am in Spring, Tx. They are near I-45 and Cypresswood, and if it is as good as the I-10 and Hwy 6 location this should be great fun for NW Houston.   Last Week: Cy Fair Wine Fair Last week Trout helped out in the beer garden for the Cy Fair Wine Fair, serving samples to thousands of attendees at this spectacular event. It was non stop action of popping tops, serving suds, and pitching the latest and greatest brews from Karbach, Rahr, and even the up and coming Montgomery County firm Cycler's Brewing. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Bridgeland community's Lakeland Activity Center, located at 16902 North Bridgelands Lake Parkway.
